Vedecká monografia "Syndroma caudae equinae discogenes" sa podrobne zaoberá stavbou aj funkciou chrbtice, jej degenaratívnymi zmenami, postihujúcimi hlavne medzistavcové platničky a Syndrómom cauda equina, ktorý je najzávažnejšou komplikáciou ochorení telovej osi. Výsledky získané od 158 pacientov, operovaných na Neurochirurgickej klinike UPJŠ LF v priebehu 26 rokov sú doplnené experimentálnou štúdiou s použitím 9 psov.

Proper administration of individual medications and reagents is of the upmost importance in the clinical practice of future doctors. It can be affected by age, body weight, kidney and liver health, and other health conditions. Subject Medical Chemistry is therefore an essential part of the theoretical education at medical faculties. The basics for the successful completion of the course are also basic chemistry calculations including solution preparation, stoichiometric calculations, pH calculations (including buffers) and spectrophotometric calculations. In addition to brief theoretical introductions, the material also contains a series of examples for practice, in order to help students in repeating and preparing for the exam from Medical Chemistry.

V roku 2017 bola 50 ročná pacientka prijatá v plánovanom režime na Kliniku cievnej chirurgie, za účelom operačného riešenia pre suponovanú pseudoaneuryzmu a. carotis interna vpravo. Pacientka bola niekoľko rokov sledovaná angiológom pre pulzujúcu rezistenciu na krku (počas hospitalizácie udala možný súvis vzniku útvaru na krku po údere).

The Use of the Er:YAG Laser 2940 nm in complex caries removal

Significant pain reduction and lack of the vibrations give advantage to LASER cavity preparation. The ideal treatment should be fast, painless and effective. Discomfort of the patient and tendency to protect hard dental tissues can lead to insufficient debridement of the carious lesion, inadequate obturation and failure of the restoration. A carious lesion is usually removed using hand instruments and rotary burs.
Understanding of laser physics and laser-tissues interaction for specific wavelength is required to predict the accomplishment of laser treatment.

Cardiac disease

Short presentation about congenital heart diseases, fetal circulation, transitorial, neonatal, normal pediatric circulation. Symptoms of congenital heart diseases are persistent unexplained central cyanosis or desaturation – even if mild initially, desaturation or cyanosis that does not improve with oxygen or ventilation, a significant persistent difference in upper and lower limb saturations, congestive heart failure (newborn, infants),cyanosis, cardiomegaly, poor growth, arrythmias, murmurs, respiratory syndrome, bronchitis. This short presentation also includes diagnosis and treatment of congenital heart diseases.
Cardiac tamponade due to cardiac metastases

Cardiac tamponade is a clinical syndrome caused by the accumulation of fluid or gas in the pericardial space, resulting in reduced ventricular filling and therefore decreased cardiac output (Figure 1). The condition is a medical emergency with resultant cardiogenic shock and death if not treated immediately. The presented case report describes a 63-year-old oncological patient who developed cardiac tamponade with the need of pericardiocentesis.

Total atelectasis of the right lung due to bronchogenic carcinoma

Despite the emerging developments in the diagnosis and treatment of lung cancer in recent years, it is still the most lethal among all cancers. Atelectasis is a common condition with lung cancer. Central bronchogenic tumors often induce atelectasis due to endobronchial obstruction but less frequently due to compression of tumor or pleural effusion. The presented case describes case of a patient, who was repeatedly admitted to the Department of Pneumology and Phtiseology due to bronchogenic carcinoma with the future release of it´s complications including obstructive atelectasis of the right lung.

It includes a heterogeneous collection of diseases with various histologically defined subsets, clinical presentations, responses to treatment and outcomes.
