Materials for Lectures

The presentation provides an overview of diseases of pancreas in childhood. Main topics are acute and chronic pancreatitis, congenital anomalies of the exocrine pancreas and gastrointestinal manifestation of cystic fibrosis. It focusses on etiology, clinical course, diagnosis and treatment possibilities.

Differential diagnosis of hepatosplenomegaly is presentation devoted for students of fifth and sixth year of general medicine and students of fourth year of dental medicine. Presentation describes single nosological units, describes mechanism of the development of hepato and splenomegaly, diagnostic approach and differential diagnosis.  

This lecture focuses on verbal and non-verbal communication in medical settings, doctors´ and patients`s behaviors that contribute to faulty communication, adherence to treatment, difficult interviews with angry, anxious, distressed patients, and how to give bad news. At the end, questions and suggestions on training the communication skills, and improving doctor - patient communication are discussed.

In theorethical part of this lecture author presented  physiology of the pubertal development, differencies between girls and boys pubertal development. Special part is focused on patological development - precocious and delayed pubertal development - etiology, clinical manigestation, clinical approach a treatment posibilities.

Diabetes mellitus type I. is one of the most common autoimmune endocrinopathies in childhood. Author presented recent knowledge about definition and etiology of hyperglycaemia in childhood, focused to diabetes I. type - its pathophysiology, clinical manifestation, practical aproaches, treatment and complications.

The work present actual view of acute and chronic heart failure in children. It is devoted to incidence, symptoms, diagnostics and managment of this disease mainly for student of fith and sixth year of general medicine, but can be suitable for nurses, postgradual physicians as well. The main part of the work consists in diagnostis procedure and disesaseś managment.

Practical lesson focuses on knowledge from neuroanatomy, neurophysiology that the students studied in previous years at Faculty of Medicine. They should study the use of some most important neuropsychological methods revealing speech,memory, learning skills and cognitive dysfuncions in neurologic and psychaitric patients. They study how to help patients using PC neurorehabilitation programs. 

The presentation is intended to the students of Dental medicine and General medicine as an introduction to pediatrics. Its aim is to emphasize that the child is not a small adult. This presentation highlights the most important differences from adults with which students can encounter during a basic physical examination of the child.

Presentation "Dental materials" is intended to the students of Dental medicine as an outline for the study. Dental materials represents a group of special materials used in dentistry to produce prostheses (include materials for prosthetic) and to treat dental caries (include materials of conservative dentistry).

It becomes increasingly important for medical professionals to have an understanding of informatics and its background. The information systems and information technologies are widely used in today’s health care systems, and therefore it is necessary to support education in this area for both medical students and for physicians who graduated before informatics was applied in the field of medicine. The aims of Informatics should be oriented on improving knowledge about computers’ terms, methods and tools. The student should acquire the knowledge that allows them to reach the appropriate computer skills. These have to be sufficient to use Informatics elements in processing of given tasks and/or scientific works in an effective way.
